Thomas has been in ministry for 6 years, serving New Summerfield UMC and
Peirce's Chapel UMC as lay supply, recently at Mount Vernon UMC/Pert and Neches
UMC as a licensed local pastor in the Texas Annual Conference of the United
Methodist Church and, until this year, was in education for 11 years. John
has recently been appointed by the Bishop of the Texas Annual Conference of the
United Methodist Church to a full-time appointment at Athens Carroll Springs
UMC, thus ending an era of over a decade of dual career public service in the East Texas area public school system. John grew up on the South
Plains of West Texas and graduated Texas Tech University. He met his wife
Rhiannon at Tech and moved East Texas after they both graduated. They have two wonderful kids, Evan and Brooklyn. Both are ages 11 and 6
respectively, but they act much older for their age sometimes! Rhiannon, like John, has a heart for youth and works as an Occupational
Therapist in Tyler ISD. The Thomas family is looking forward to continuing to serve the Lord at Carroll
Springs UMC! We look forward to seeing you!
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.
